Teradyne, Molex Introduce VHDM
8-Row Right-Angle Male Connector
NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June
24, 2003--Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER) Connection Systems Division
(TCS), and Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLX and MOLXA) today
announced the addition of an 8-row version of Teradyne's right-angle
male connector - VHDM RAM - to the VHDM(R) product family.
The VHDM 8-Row RAM connector provides a higher density solution
(100 signals per inch) that allows designers to grow their
system horizontally by creating traditional backplane components
in a right-angle orientation.
Applications for the right-angle male
include cable I/O interfacing directly to the edge of the
daughtercard, planar extender-card applications, and straight
I/O into the right-angle female VHDM connector. The VHDM product
family is based upon a modular 'waferized' architecture, allowing
the right-angle male wafers to be combined with power and
guidance wafers to achieve an overall connector length of
up to 304mm.
The VHDM 8-Row RAM connector uses
the same wafer concept as the standard VHDM connector and
is designed to mate with standard VHDM 8-Row Right-Angle Female
connector assemblies. The product family also includes VHDM-HSD(TM),
VHDM(R) L-series, coplanar and parallel stacking derivatives,
and a wide variety of components including power and guidance.
For more information on the VHDM product family connector

Teradyne and Molex began their business
relationship in 1996 when Teradyne licensed Molex to manufacture
its HDM(R) backplane connectors. Since then, Molex has been
licensed to manufacture other Teradyne backplane connector
lines, including VHDM, VHDM-HSD and VHDM L-Series. The addition
of VHDM 8-row RAM to both company's product portfolios represents
their mutual commitment to continuously expand the VHDM product
family in order to best support their customers.
Pricing and Availability:
The VHDM 8-Row Right-Angle Male connector is priced at approximately
$. 20 - $.25 per line in full production volumes and will
be available in June 2003 from both Teradyne and Molex.
Demonstrations:
Teradyne will exhibit June 24-25 at the International Engineering
Consortium's (IEC) DesignCon East 2003 conference; Royal Plaza
Hotel and Trade Center, Marlborough, Massachusetts. Booth
200.
