Press Release
Frost & Sullivan Honors Teradyne
for Customer Value Enhancement in the Printed Circuit Boards
Market
Boston, MA — July 15, 2004
— Teradyne Connection Systems’ High Performance
Circuits group was presented with the 2004 Customer Value
Enhancement Award for its accomplishments in the Printed
Circuit Board manufacturing and fabrication market at
Frost & Sullivan’s Excellence in Customer Value
Enhancement Awards Banquet last night.
The company receives this award for its
demonstrated skill in enhancing value for its customers, outscoring
its competitors on several factors, including: unique value
proposition, innovative service packages, customer feedback,
and value generation through a unique manufacturing strategy.
Teradyne’s customer satisfaction strategy is built on
three basic elements of value creation – reliability,
technology, and convenience.
“Teradyne’s High Performance
Circuits facility is the first factory to be certified to
MIL-PRF-31032 for the military market and has been manufacturing
printed circuit boards for more than 25 years,” observes
Frost & Sullivan research analyst Bhargava Attada. “On-going
investments in their PCB technology and fabrication capabilities
combined with Teradyne’s history of innovation and experience
in backplane interconnect provides Original Equipment Manufacturers
(OEMs) a one-stop source for high-performance solutions.”
Teradyne uses a unique manufacturing strategy
and global sourcing to enable the company to compete successfully
with low-cost manufacturers in Asia and stay in close proximity
to its customers. For example, while most board manufacturers
build three to four circuits on a single panel, Teradyne’s
large format capabilities allow for building 10 to 12
boards per panel, significantly reducing the variable cost
of the PCB. In addition, the company has the technical expertise
to handle fluctuations in its customers’ demand. This
service enables the customer to form risk-proof supply chain
strategies and minimizes production fluctuations.
Teradyne offers customers full application-engineering
support including material selection and procurement. Its
wide-ranging portfolio of services also includes layout and
design, prototyping, logistics, and distribution, providing
clients with a bundled value proposition that promotes annual
growth rates above the industry average. The company manufactures
in Nashua, New Hampshire and more information can be found
