Teradyne Connection Systems Introduces
the GbX® E-Series Connector; Extends Product Family with
Enhanced Electrical Performance
NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13,
2005--Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER) Connection Systems Division
(TCS), the industry leader in high-performance connection
systems, today announced the launch of its GbX®
E-Series connector - a powerful upgrade to Teradyne's
successful GbX platform with a significant reduction in crosstalk
and scaleable data rates greater than 10 Gb/s.
The GbX E-Series connector is optimized for differential architectures
and features crosstalk as low as two percent. Based on proven
technology, the GbX E-Series connector provides a high level
of mechanical reliability and a choice of density configurations
for application flexibility.
"We developed GbX E-Series with the
high-performance systems designer in mind," said Colleen
Murphy, GbX Product Manager at TCS. "Now designers can
scale their existing backplane platforms to much higher data
rates using a drop-in replacement module without re-spinning
their backplane design. This option represents a cost savings
and quicker time to market for our customers"
The GbX and GbX E-Series connectors include
2, 3, 4, and 5-pair versions with densities from 27.5 to 69
differential pairs per linear inch and additional power and
guidance options. An L-Series version for low speed signals
is also available in the 2-pair, 3-pair and 4-pair configurations.
These denser (69 to 151 single-ended contacts per linear inch),
unshielded connectors can be end-stacked with the differential
components in multiple hybrid formats.
Pricing and Availability:
The GbX E-Series platform connector is priced at approximately
$.10 - .12 per mated signal line in full production volumes
and will be available in Q4 2005.
Demonstrations:
Teradyne will exhibit at DesignCon East 2005, September 20-21
in Worcester, Massachusetts and at Euro DesignCon, October
25-26, 2005 in Munich, Germany.
